Trip to Skipton with Yorkshire OUGS - thank you to Phil for organising, and Neil for leading us

Last two members of the group just driving past to park There were mushrooms growing in amongst the roots
This must be the place!  Yorkshire OUGS gather at Shortbank Road Fantastic tree roots as we climbed up the hill
At Jenny Gill quarry (lowest leaf of Pendle Grit formation), looking for sole marks in sandstones It's a pity it was so misty, the views were fantastic
Ann is showing our latest recruit what a rock looks like? Someone had kindly provided a bench halfway up the hill
Landslips to the left all the way up
This is where we were headed - 373m above sea level On our way to location 6 - the highest "whaleback" on Skipton Moor
Neil showed us a map of drumlins in Skipton
Lunch - and an opportunity to swap stories Cairns on Skipton Moor
Baaa Stick for scale - is 1.2m long
Local inhabitants Ah!  Truncated cross bedding in Warley Wise Grit at location 8
Across the field, looking for evidence of coal Plants clearly evident in the coal fragments
Yes, Ann, I am coming! We appear to have found the Bradley Coal in the spoil heaps
On our way to find the marine band Pencil for scale - full length of pencil is 15cm
Another stile, another field -  "Here's one I found earlier" - goniatites and bivalves in marine mudstones
Bucolic interlude in the farmyard Just past the lovely gardens down the lane from the farm
The white cow needed a good wash before the Pateley show Beyond the farm - Bradley Flags form the stream bed
Possibly river mouth bar deposits? Following the yellow arrows
Bradley Quarry - Bradley Flags at the top Walking back to the cars - another stile!
Those hills at the back look familiar - Feet too tired to worry about meeting cattle and sheep!
Hm - confusing - double headed arrow - which way, Neil? This one watched with great interest as we passed
Looking north to Skipton and beyond Yoohoo, Bob and Ann!
Limestone ridge centre of picture - limestone from northern limb of Skipton anticline Almost there!  It seemed a long time since we left our cars that morning - the glass of cold coke at the pub was most welcome.
